Something we keep hearing at the moment from prospects is “We have worked for several years with another advisor, but they have said for our next claim they can’t assist as they are at capacity.”
Now, this may well be true, with long running compliance checks more commonplace, the other advisor may well be at capacity.
Potentially, it might be a nice way for the other advisor to say “With the drop in SME rates, you are too small for us to engage again.”
More worrying, however, is that in all the cases we have reviewed to date, it actually meant “Your previous claims were invalid but we didn’t think HMRC would check and now we know it is much more likely to check, we have no confidence that we could defend your claim.”
